ASA Group focusses on solar energy: major project in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The ASA Group, the largest private-sector company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has begun construction of an extensive solar field. With 7,500 employees, the Group is not only a leading employer and exporter, but also a major philanthropist in the country.
The ambitious ‘Park of PV power plants’ project is being realised by ASA Energija, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ASA Group. ASA Energija is responsible for the energy sector within the ASA Prevent Group and holds licences for the retail and wholesale of electricity.
The project is divided into two phases:
Phase 1: Construction of two photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 8 MW (2x4 MW). The construction work has already been completed and the plant is due to be connected to the grid in the coming days.
Phase 2: Construction of two further PV plants with a total capacity of 60 MW (2x30 MW). The project documentation is in progress and the required land is available.
The plants in the second phase will be ground-mounted and erected in the immediate vicinity of the plants in the first phase. They will be connected to the transmission grid and all of the electricity produced will be sold via a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).
Technische Details der zweiten Phase:
- Energy yield: 1,223 kWh/kWp/year
- Performance ratio: 83.91%
- Available area for solar panels: 950,000 m²
- Estimated annual electricity generation: 80 GWh
The project is located in the municipality of Bosanski Petrovac. While the first phase is already fully financed, the second phase with an investment volume of around EUR 43 million is open to investors. The environmental permits and spatial development plan for phase 2 have already been obtained and commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2026.
The advantages of photovoltaic systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina are manifold: a favourable geographical location, renewable and environmentally friendly energy generation, high reliability, relatively low operating costs and a well-developed electricity market make the country an attractive location for solar energy.
With this large-scale project, the ASA Group is emphasising its commitment to sustainable energy solutions and is
